I think I’m still experiencing the post-wedding high from this event, so please pardon my gushing. First of all, I’m in love with this venue. Driving into Holman Ranch always feels like you’re entering another world, one that’s so inviting and inspiring that you don’t want to leave….ever. Add to that a couple who are so obviously in love and so comfortable with each other that they need literally no direction in front of the camera, and I’m one happy photographer. Then the day was made even more beautiful and fun to document because Robyn and Tobin, together with Robyn’s mom, Coastside Couture and an amazing team of vendors (full credits at the end of the post) added a whole lot of personality and heart to the day with some really thoughtful, unique and fun details. I love that everything was centered around an unlikely goldfish theme because of the nickname given to this couple thanks to their last names Goldman and Fischer. I arrived to discover a bowl of live goldfish which would later be given as gifts to all of their departing guests, (and to their photographer’s son…thanks for adding Goldy and Rocky to our family!) There was a beautiful driftwood huppah standing at the ceremony site that I later found out was made by Tobin himself. Tobin and Robyn also made their own titanium wedding rings, which were passed around during the ceremony and polished by all of their guests. After the ceremony everyone gathered in the shaded courtyard for family style dining and to hear some truly great speeches. These were speeches that conveyed how extremely dynamic Robyn and Tobin are both as individuals and together, (they’re the creative force behind Smitten Ice Cream) but also how close these two are with their families. I kept tearing up while not only listening to, but again while editing the photos of Robyn listening to her twin brother’s speech, and it’s not just me, I don’t think that there was a dry eye in the house after that one. After the speeches I stole the couple away to a big old oak tree for a few golden light filled moments (gotta love a bride who suggests climbing into a tree in heels and a wedding gown) and then got them back to their party to cut some delicious cake and start the dance party in the barn. These two have some major dance floor chemistry, and they were both beaming with joy all night long until their very last wave goodbye as they were driven off while guests cheered and were left with some very fond memories of this summer’s day in Carmel Valley.
